Basic Layer Structure
Most bioactive terrariums and vivariums use a layered approach:

- Full substrate replacement annually or when compaction becomes severe

Too wet

Too dry
Cleanup crew dies off and mold takes over. Substrate should stay consistently moist in the active layer.
No leaf litter
